Didymo in Big Hunting Creek
The club received notice that Didymo has been found in Big Hunting Creek. Didymo is an invasive species of algae that can ruin a fishery. It was found in Gunpowder Rive (north of Baltimore) and the Savage River (western Maryland) some years ago but apparently is now in our area. Please spread the word to all the fishers you know. Please take the time to use wader wash stations when available, wherever you are fishing. Please take a few minutes to maintain the wader wash stations when you are on a stream. There are instructions at each station. If you are fishing Big Hunting Creek, please inform any anglers you see of the situation and ask them to use the wader wash stations. We want to do everything we can to reduce the spread of this invasive species.

Didymo found below Savage River Reservoir
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced today that didymo, an invasive non-native algae has been found in the Savage River below Savage River Reservoir.
